More wishful thinking by the smug right

They lost power when voters got sick of their smug arrogance, but after 11 years in the wilderness, the Tories and their supporters still act as if government was their birthright. Iain Dale’s blog today records a fairly straightforward assessment by Alistair Darling of what the government needs to do to regain its popularity. Iain’s conclusion? That the chancellor has “knifed Brown in the back” and “given the game away”.

So according to Iain, if any minister were simply to acknowledge that Labour is currently behind in the polls and that we need to convince voters to switch back to us, that would indicate there are major schisms in the government.

Blistering analysis, indeed.
